This Saturday, the United States Geological Survey will hold it’s (sometimes) yearly open house. The open house highlights the responsibilities of the Survey, such as earthquake monitoring, and mapping.
This years open house has over 80 exhibits, highlighting subjects such as hurricanes, water pollution, and satellite imaging. Scientists will be on hand to explain their exhibits. The USGS is over 128 years old and oversees biology, geography, geology, and hydrology work. It was founded to chart the western territories of the United States.
The open house is open from 10am-5pm on Saturday, November 3rd. From the Reston Town center, take Reston Parkway towards South Lakes Drive. Make a right on South Lakes. Continue past Sanibel Dr, and you’ll arrive at the USGS headquarters. There is ample weekend parking.
